After signing an agreement with the school district to settle the claims in a complaint brought under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a student and his mother sought leave to amend their original complaint with new matters that had not been resolved. The Court ruled that the complaint cannot be amended once both parties fully execute a settlement agreement addressing the complaint’s original claims. If more matters need to be addressed, the student and her parent must file a new request for an IDEA due process hearing.
