Under the Georgia Constitution, no person finally adjudicated by a court of competent jurisdiction as having defaulted on a tax obligation may hold public
office.  Thus, while Respondent, a candidate for State Senate District 14, has an existing tax lien against his former business, he is not disqualified while an appeal of the debt is still pending.  Furthermore, Respondent has agreed to satisfy the lien should his appeal fail, as permitted under the Georgia Constitution, to remove the impediment to eligibility.
